Oudtshoorn – Part 5

On Saturday we decided to drive around and see where we end up. We drove in the direction of George, stopped at the shops and bought some chocolates, drove around the town and then started driving along the N12 to Oudtshoorn.

Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capital of the world and no where else will you find feathers of the same high quality. There are over 400 ostrich farms where you can stop and visit. There are also many old buildings, churches and CJ Langenhoven’s house to visit. This provide us a little glimpse into life as it was once lived in the Klein Karoo. Many of these old buildings also showcase a great example of traditional architecture.

Doesn’t matter which way you drive in order to get to Oudtshoorn, you have to cross a mountain of some sort and this provides you with the perfect opportunity to admire the fantastic views offered to you…

While in Oudtshoorn, you should also visit the Cango Cave. This is the oldest and most popular attraction, a natural wonder. Experience the spectacular limestone caves and enjoy an ostrich steak on your way out at the wonderful restaurant.

There are many things to keep you busy with in Oudtshoorn. We loved it!
