The Start… Part 1

Our day in England started very early in the morning. First we got up and walked to the bus station with a VERY heavy suitcase and hand luggage. Not an easy job if you are as weak in the arms as I am :) At the bus station just before 7 in the morning we waited patiently…

The journey from our house to Carlisle was over an hour and a half on the bus. At the Carlisle bus station we had to get on a National Express bus and left for Birmingham. It took us a long time to get there and then had to wait for another bus that would then take us to Heathrow.

After a 2 hour wait we finally got on the bus and arrived at Heathrow after 6 that evening. This was not the end of the road though and we had to get another bus to our hotel for the evening. Our flight was not until the next evening… this with our luggage following us all the way, us having to pull it…

We did not settle into our hotel until around 10 that evening. This was just the start of our journey.

The next morning at least we slept in a bit and got to the airport at around 1 in the afternoon. We had to be out of our room for 10, so we had no choice but to leave for the airport early.

We walked around after booking in our luggage and at least that saved us having to take the luggage everywhere we went. We had something to eat and then boarded the plane that evening at around 8. Virgin Atlantic, an airline I used to love, but after flying Air France, it is hard having to get used to Virgin food again. Air France according to me is the BEST in the world. The food is top class, fantastic.

My screen did not work and we had to move after about half an hour on the plain, so our flight did not start too good. At least we have blow up pillows and that helped a little bit when we tried to sleep for the evening. And I did sleep, if only for a short few hours.

We arrived in South-Africa that next morning and it was great seeing my mother and best friend at the airport, waiting to pick us up. It was a great feeling seeing them again and it felt like I was home. My husband loves South-Africa, my friends and family, so we were both happy.

Great to have both your feet on South-African soil once more…feeling the sun on your skin, even if it is winter :)
